Joyce C. Morehouse, 73, formerly of Main Street, Broadalbin, passed away Friday evening, December 11, 2020, at Wilkinson RHCF, Amsterdam.

She was born in Amsterdam on July 31, 1947, a daughter of Robert and Doris Holcomb Morehouse and was a 1965 graduate of Broadalbin High School. Joyce was a lifelong area resident.

After graduating, she was employed as a telephone operator in Albany. Later, Joyce was employed at the former Broadalbin Knitting Mill as well as the former Collette’s Adult Home in Broadalbin. She also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in the Central Sterile Department.

Joyce attended the Broadalbin Baptist Church throughout her childhood and adult life. She had an unconditional faith in the Lord.

Joyce adored her daughter and cherished her two grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting and socializing with her friends and family while she lived in the village of Broadalbin. She was an avid cat lover and enjoyed spoiling her pets. She took pride in her appearance and always strived to look her best. Joyce loved cosmetics, jewelry, glitz, and glamour.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Donald Morehouse.

She is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Lestage of Broadalbin; a brother, Harold (Donna) Morehouse of Broadalbin; two sisters, Roberta (Jim) Barkevich of Gloversville and Barbara (Bob) Whitlock of Bowman, SC; two grandchildren, Joshua Drake and Amanda (Chris) Grinnell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin, with the Rev. David Deuel, officiating. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Joyce’s family would like to gratefully acknowledge the extraordinary and compassionate care that was extended to her while at Wilkinson RHCF and St. Mary’s Healthcare. The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Amsterdam.
