Clemson vs. Virginia Tech score: Live game updates, college football scores, coverage, NCAA highlights

It looks like we’ve got more of a game than many anticipated.

No. 2 Clemson has a 17-10 lead on Virginia Tech at halftime, but the Hokies were about six inches away from tying it up. Virginia Tech appeared to be ready just to run out the clock on the first half when Khalil Herbert broke free for a big gain to put them in Hail Mary range with two seconds left. The Hokies took a shot, and Braxton Burmeister’s pass was knocked down at the goal line, but not hard enough, as it was swatted right into the arms of Raheem Blackshear. Blackshear then pushed toward the end zone but was stopped just short of the goal line to end the half.

And that’s the kind of game it’s been so far. Clemson keeps being Clemson on offense, putting together long touchdown drives, but the Hokies refuse to back down.

Clemson will start the second half with the ball and a chance to take a two-score lead, and that could prove to be enough to put this game away. But if the Hokies can get a stop, we might be in line for a thrilling finish in Blacksburg.

CBS Sports will be with you the entire way providing live score updates, highlights and analysis from the game. Keep it locked here from kickoff until the final whistle.
